DIL Addresses Innovations in Education at NGO Committee on the Status of Women in New York

dil-innovationEarlier this month, DIL’s Director of Curriculum Annie Field joined a discussion on Innovations in Education at the NGO Committee on the Status of Women in New York.

The Committee brings together NGO representatives from around the world for two weeks to network, share strategies and best practices in preparation for the UN Commission of Status of Women sessions in March.

“Speaking at the UN’s Annual Status of Women (NGO CSW) conference provided us the opportunity to share our work at DIL with a diverse audience of international practitioners, researchers and policy makers,” explained Annie. “The title of our panel was “Innovations in Education: Quality, Scale and Equality” and through this I was able to highlight the innovative work DIL has accomplished around curriculum development, teacher training and most recently our mobile learning project.”

“Throughout my presentation I focused on the collaboration DIL uses at all levels of our work: from establishing schools with community support to developing learning materials based on teacher feedback, and how that participatory approach has been one of the keys to our success so far.”

Panelists also shared innovative approaches in curriculum design, including use of technology, impact measurements, usable results methodologies and low-cost, sustainable scale models.

The NGO CSW/NY supports the work of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women and UN Women, and advocates for gender architecture reform at the UN, women’s rights and the advancement of women and girls.
